Specialty

With a trajectory based on growth, Karina has developed a broad portfolio of products, with thousands of formulations. Most of these formulas produced on a monthly basis at its plants, providing customers with a high degree of flexibility and customization in the preparation of their compounds. Some of the main available variations include heavy-metal-free (HMF) materials, non-toxic compounds and micro-expanded PVC compounds, which add value to the final product.

History

Since its founding in 1979, Karina has shown a continuous growth trajectory in the segment of thermoplastic compounds. The company’s structure and customer service are constantly improved, allowing it to conquer of a large portion of the market.

Karina was founded with the aim of providing PVC compounds for the market for footwear, hoses, flexible profiles and wires, and cables.

1985

The Company begins the manufacture of PVC hoses and pipes.

1990

Karina starts the development of PVC compounds for the segment of heat-shrinkable, stretchable and sealing films. The Company’s operations are expanded.

1992

With the aim of focusing on the market for PVC compounds, Karina finishes the manufacture of PVC hoses and pipes. On the other hand, it increases investments in manufacturing technology, production capacity, and diversification of the PVC portfolio. The Company’s goal at this time is to increase its competitiveness to become a world-class thermoplastic composting company.

1994

Karina enters the market for rigid compounds (flasks, liners, and fittings).

2000

The Company becomes the market leader in Latin America.

2002

Earthworks are initiated in an area of ​​112,000 m2, where a new high-technology plant was built for the production of PVC compounds.

2004

The new plant for the production of PVC compounds is opened.

2005

Karina starts the development of expanded (EX) and micro-expanded (KAPU®) compounds for the footwear segment.

2008

The development of the market for polyolefin and masterbatch compounds (white, black, colored, mineral concentrate) is started.

2009

The manufacture of additives for the polyolefin market is started.

2010

Cross-linked polyolefin compounds are developed for karinpex® (XLPE/HEPR) and karintox® (LSZH – halogen-free) and FR-H1 wires and cables.

2012

The plant for the production of PVC compounds for hospital and food products is opened.

2014

The production of micronized compounds for rotational molding is started.

2015

In order to continue diversifying and increasing its portfolio in the area of ​​civil construction, Capstock, a product applied on PVC tiles, is developed.

2016

Aiming to expand the Brazilian footwear market, Karina begins to develop karinprene® TR (Thermoplastic Rubber Compounds)

2019

Karina Plásticos completed 40 years of operation, leadership and excellence in service and supply of thermoplastic compounds.

2020

Karina Plásticos added in our service portfolio, focused on thermoplastic rubber, the karinprene® TPE product.

2021

SESI institution names Mr. Hagop Guekmezian as patron of the Guarulhos-Cocaia unit, SESI HAGOP GUEREKMEZIAN.

2022

Karina Plásticos opens its first Memory Center dedicated to telling the family story and history of Karina Plásticos.

2023

Karina Plástico adds the line of Compostable Bioplastics to its product portfolio and with this the launch of Karinbio.

2024

Karina Plásticos celebrates 45 years of transformation history
